Default Oil At 1,000 Mile Service

Was wondering what kind of oil dealers put in your bike at the 1,000 mile service. I had my 1,000 mile service done last October right before I put the bike away. I have maybe 300 miles on the oil. I will switch to Mobil One Synthetic next oil change which is what I always run in my bikes. Is the oil in there now probably just the HD 360 that they normally sell? I know they pumped it out of a 55 gallon drum. Anyway, another question, since I only have 300 miles on this oil, would you run it another 2,000 miles and then switch to Mobil One, or dump it now and switch, if it was your bike?

My guess is it is dino they put in. My dealer told me that I could have synthetic put in at 1K miles, but I would have to pay the difference since the 1K service is on their dime. I would probably just leave what you got in it & next oil change switch to syn.

Everything I've ever heard is that synthetic oil should not be used until well after the break in period because it won't let the rings seat properly. My dealer told me I could go to synthetic at 5,000 miles. I believe they use conventional 20W-50 oil on new bikes.

Leave your new oil in, it's there isn't it? You would only be wasting money.IMO

I was told that '09 and up came with synthetic when new (parts desk at the dealer). I put synthetic in at about 1600 miles.

You can switch any time you want to but I wouldn't waste what's in it right now.
Just leave it,switch to mobil on your next oil change.

Exactly...Thank you. I was going to say the same thing.

I love all of the "things" you hear about synthetic oil.
