People ask because they simply don't know the answer. Having done the math on an 11.8" rotor (299.72mm) makes me wonder if a 320mm rotor from a Yamaha FZR or one of the Ducati's (both of which I think are the same pattern as non oem Brembo rotors) would bring things into agreement with the touring calipers. That said I don't recall of those rotors had an offset built into the carrier or not.
