Default Advice on installing V&H quiet baffles...

was hoping to get some advice/tips on installing V&H quiet baffles in Black Big Shot Staggered pipes. It seems that the baffle screw is underneath the black heat shield. Can i remove just the shield, or do i have to take the pipes completely off first, and then the shields? Tips, trick, and/or videos would be appreciated. Thanks

I have tried about 4 different style baffles on my big shots. You dont have to remove the exhaust, just the heat shields. Then you will be able to access the allen screw to remove the baffles. No tricks or videos needed. Just remove the 3 hose clamps on each heat shield and pull the heat shield off. THe screw to remove the baffle is parralel to the swingarm, so its a bit tight but i have done it many times.

I put my quiet baffles in before I installed the pipes. I did add extra tape around the fiberglass matting to ease them in better.

Remove the clamps, pull out the old and put in the new. I used a little more tape. Went right in for me.

No you have to undo the clamp all the way then when you pull the baffles off the clamps will be attatched to the heat shields. Real simple once you do it.

Installed the quiet baffles today, like the low rumble much better. I had some trouble getting the new ones in because of the insulation kept getting bunched up. I bought some heat tape at the local auto store, it said it was good up to 500 degrees F. is that good enough?, How hot does the end of the exhaust get?

doesnt matter the fiberglass insulation burns up at some point any way. glad you got it done. when i did this i liked the sound but felt like i was resricting the exhaust flow. so i am running the stock baffles and seems more free flowing.

it would seem that there has to be more air restriction than the stocks . Took a test drive up to a local coffee shop this afternoon (50 degrees here in Syracuse, NY--not bad for March) , bike seemed to have plenty of power - i have SE tuner and plan on doing a series of smart tunes once springs really gets here.

Thanks for the help and support!
