Default worn motor mount

Ive got a 2008 fatbob and I had to replace the rear motor mount after 13,000 miles. The motor is stock and I will admit that I ride it hard but I dont think that is the problem. Any ideas or thoughts ?

Motor mounts are rubber and do wear out. Some people get 20K out them, some get more. I ride two up most of the time with a heavy passenger. I have never gotten over 10K on one.

I am really starting to wonder if harley hasn't starting using a cheaper grade rubber in its engine mounts because they sure dont seem to last as long as they used to.

I was just making an observation from what I have read on the forums here. Lots of people have had to replace the rear motor mount especially at mileage that seems awfully early to me. If you have 30000 on your mounts your doing great.

Really? My '09 FXD has almost 60K miles on it and the rear motor mount seems fine to me.
It may have to do with the Sputhe stabilizers that I installed as an early modification.

I guess I just assumed that motor mounts should last a lot longer. Im fairly new to riding. This is my first bike but now Im wondering whats going to go next? **** it. Im gonna ride it like I stole it and fix it when it breaks.

hey mutant thats is pretty much what we all do realistically. You can make preparations and try to be on top of things but besides basic maintenance and obvious wear items like tires and brake pads it is almost impossible to gauge how long something will last. just ride it and have a blast . that is what it is all about.

So what are the signs of a worn mount? I was messing around with my bike today..perhaps its always been there or not, but when the bike is on its kickstand and you roll on the throttle, the bike kinda torques its way up and to the right "brake side"...like I said unsure if it always did or not.

I'd like to hear an answer to this also.
I have a '05 FXDX here and the rear brake rod sheered off at the master cylinder due to interference at the bottom of the trans case. It actually looks like the motor has dropped in the frame. Is this possible??
