There was a difference is sound. Not as much as I was hoping for but it did sound deeper and a bit louder. Earlier today I removed the mufflers and opened up the baffles, that made a significant difference. Now I have the desired sound level...

I've done the cycle shack slip on thing in the oem muffler and was deceived. Before removing the cat I completely removed the mufflers and it wasnt louder at all. So I removed the cat and now run straight pipe with some hardware store exhaust pipe instead of slip ons ... might reconsider the stock chrome mufflers with cycle shack in it for look or just heat wrap the whole thing didnt make my mind yet.

So I was not happy at all with the sound difference after removing the Catalyst. I took the mufflers back off and opened the baffles about half inch and here is the result..

I drilled the center plug, pulled the fiberglass, re-riveted the stock baffles and have the same sound on stock FXDF muffs on my '11 FatBob. K&N air filter and Xieds is all I did. I'm damn happy with it. Might have lost 1 mpg. I won't do more.

Being new to this, can you explain what was involved in opening up the baffles?
