Roadking rear fender install advise
#11
Mine is a 2011 Street Glide onto my 08 Fat Bob. Had to extend the rear mounting holes a bit for proper placement and drill new holes for the front mounts. I'll have to fill holes as well (mig welds). Also, AFMM3 and I both had to weld extensions (mine is still in progress) in order to cover the front downward part. Believe it or not my fat bob rear fender and the replacement street glide one were identical in size, just the fat bob is rotated forward to give it the bob tail, and a touring fender is rotated aft and down to give it the full look.
As I learned early on in my changeover, newer touring models overcome this 'gap' on the front downward part (just behind the frame) with the battery box, which is shaped and radius-ed to fill in the gap.

Your correct Ackman, this fender does come all the way down at the front, so no extension needed, my friend has a mig so i will be seeing him soon for hole filling.I have attached a pic of fender, paint is scuffed but no big deal as it will need paint anyhow.

I've done it on an '08 Street Bob with the 2009 and newer Road King fender. This is different than your situation. Search for member SURFOR Chop as he has done this on an '05 Dyna. You can also read through the FL-Dyna Interest Group.
My father is also in the middle of a FL-Dyna project with an '05 Dyna. Here is a picture of his. I live 1,600 miles away from him (so I don't know the details) but as you see, it can and has been done.

The 2009 and newer Road King fender is close enough in size to fit between the struts. A little tight at the rear of the strut but still using the spacers at the front. The Street Bob fender is not quite as wide, so a little pounding with the hammer got the two pieces to agree with each other.
