I think I've seen some guys use black ABS pipe, Leather wrap, and 3M contact paper. I've been thinking about doing this and your post is very timely. I'm leaning towards using the contact paper since that would be the easiest (ie:no disassembly required). However I'm also thinking about putting on some fork boots so it won't really matter as I'll have to pull the legs... Either Way, I'm subscribed to see what others have done.

Just spent $1.99 for pvc at the hardware store today.( after posting this same question a couple days ago =) ) I got PVC that has an inside diameter of 1 1/2" and it fits very nicely over my 39mm tubes. A little prep and paint, looks nice and beefy, can also drill holes for the shotgun look, while saving $$$$$$$$. Otherwise contact member JRK5842, he just pm'd me, selling metal, powdercoated sets for $45, look real sharp.

Does anyone know where I could get this done at? Or where I would ship my tubes off too? I will save tearing my frontend down again until next winter but I am getting this DLC done to mine for sure. This is the best option...hands down!!! Looks the best too! Sweet bike!

Get in contact with Pete from rocket bobs he does awesome work granted it is expensive but well worth it. You do have to ship em off to the UK though which is a bummer deal to have them done right

I wrapped them in adhesive vinyl on my sportster. It looked pretty good. You can get small sheets of the automotive grade vinyl on ebay for just a few bucks.
