Default Stage 1 download...

I've been running a SE Pro high flow air cleaner, and a thunderheader with just the stage one download running excellent. Question: I've got a RB pro stock 2-1, can I replace the thunderheader with no problems? Or, do I need to get a tuner?
I don't plan on big bore engine or cams so is the tuner necessary? If I do need one I'm looking at the TTS, any thoughts?

There's got to be at least 100 threads about this topic.

Actually, there isn't. I'm not really asking advice about which tuner or which pipe to buy...
I'm just asking about running the RB pro stock with just the HD stage 1 download, what are people's thoughts...

Hey bud. I think at that point you should get a tuner. I know you mentioned it was running fine, actually you said excellent. The stage 1 dowload doesnt do much. But with the ecm self tuning and the stage 1 , that worked for you at the time. But going with a better pipe it just may be time to get the full potential out of the bike with a tuner. Hit the tech threads, then there is a tuner section. WIll bet better hits with tuning tips and questions about your setup. Good luck with it.

I have an 06 with a SE air cleaner and SE pipes. I just have the download and when I had it done I asked and they said I could run any pipes I wanted. That was in 07, since then there has been a lot more pipes come onto the market so I don't know if that still applies.

your bike may run excellent with the download / pipes/ air cleaner, but with proper tuning would it not run *excellent-er*? as pontiac stated yes it is worth it you will grab up some extra hp and torque + it'll run smoother, cooler , and give better throttle response! Your question is it absoloutely necessary? No it won't burn up without the tuner. However tts is the way to go if your gonna do it.

No doubt that a tuner will get you more power with an RB exhaust. It's a pricey system and if it was me I would want to get everything out of it. See how it runs with the RB and go from there.
