Default Dealer Quote for exhaust/Intake

I Just dropped of my 2012 FXDB for my first 1,000 mile service. Talking to the the Service Writer he said they were running a special for Rush slip-on's and a high flow intake with a download for about 750.00. Is this a deal?

well when i bought my bike i had the dealer do the same thing. all prices below were parts. i dont remember what i paid for the installation. I am assuming with the price of installation i paid more than 750. I will tell you that it was the worst thing i ever did. Just wasted all that money. Less than i season of riding i switched to a full exhaust, bought a tuner, and a different ac. Sold my slipons for dirt cheap, the stage 1 download was thrown out the window once i bought the tuner. I thought i just wanted slipons at the time of purchase but not to long after realized what i really wanted. So if this is what you want then i guess its a good deal. But remember the 300 your spending on slipons, you could put towards a full system and get better results. All up to you and your wallet.
Happy riding

rush slipons 300
stage 1 ac 130
stage 1 download 150

Since the dealer download is basically worthless, you will have spent $750 for slip-on's and an AC. Doesn't sound like a very good deal does it?

For sure, pick up a full exhaust, air cleaner, tuner and a service manual.

Exhaust and AC is cake, the extra coin saved can go towards dyno time.

$750?? And that's supposed to be a deal?!?!?! Anybody that can twist a socket wrench can install a pipe and filter in short order. Don't become a victim of a dealer screw job.

A service manual and about an 1.5 hours of your own time will save you a boat load on this one.

+ 1 get on at ebay for deals, get the manual and do these simple tasks yourself. Don'over torque your exhaust flange bolts or the mounting bolts on the a/c. loctite and even pressure is all you need!

Exactly. The dealer download is EPA approved. It raises the rev limit. Doesn't add fuel anywhere.
The fuel injected bike will compensate with more fuel for an air cleaner and exhaust, despite what anyone thinks. It maintains the 14.7-1 a/f ratio without the dealer download. And slip ons really don't help the exhaust gases get out. They help sound.
So think about it. For 750 you get slip ons,a new air filter and a higher rev limit. Does it sound like a good deal to you.
