Default anybody using a hard wired cord on your gps??

I'm wondering if anybody is using a hard wired cord on their gps. i have a garmin nuvi 765T on my bike and was wondering if anybody is using one of the hardwiring kits. the reviews on amazon.com have complaints about some of the gps's that use a cradle power cord such as mine, having a problem with it recognizing the gps as connected to a pc when connecting with the mini usp plug. mine is that way when I plug in the mini usb. just wondering if anybody has found one that the gps won't recognize as a pc..

Mine is hard wired, constant power, Nuvi 280WT. Only issue I have at times is to power it on, sometimes have to switch it back and forth. That's all.

My Zumo 550 is hard wired to the battery using the power cord & fuse that came with it in the kit. I never had any problems.

y'all don't have the kind that gives problems I don't guess. where the problem is, mine doesn't just have one plug on it. it has a cradle thing with a plug built into it that plugs into the bottom of the gps when you click it down on top of it. it also has a mini usb port for connecting to the pc for updates etc. the hard wire kits have that mini usb on them so that is the only way to connect it to my type(dual connecting types) gps. so if you plug a mini usb into my type it sees it as being connected to a pc for updating. really sucks!!!! I guess I'm jut gonna have to move my cig lighter plug to my bars.. right now it's on top of my crash bar so i had to zip tie the power cable to get the slack out but when i leave enough slack to be able to turn the bars both ways, the wind would push the excess cable into the front of my gas tank and scratch it all to hell flapping in the wind.... wish I'd bought a normal gps with just one plug. I didnt buy it for a bike though and i've had it a few years and didn't own a bike at the time. thanks guys

here is where I placed my lighter plug. I have a Garmin 260w with a single mini usb power plug. I just suction cup it to my speedo
