Just put a set of HD forward controls on my 2012 Dyna Custom.Got 20% discount by using one of the many online Harley dealers who offer this discount. That makes the HD kit the lowest price and everything fits I cut my factory shift lever off from the backside of the inner primary which saved pulling the inner primary off.I did not change the trans shift lever to the kits longer lever and have had no problem with finding neutral or shifting. The kit comes with all the gaskets and trans lever if you want to pull the inner primary off.It was a 2 hour job including cutting the shifter shaft.
I just put a set of HD forwards on my 05 fxdi. Took about 2 hours. On our bikes you don't have to cut anything. GTK is right. I got 20% from my dealer.
I'm thinking about putting forward controls on my 05 FXD. Any opinions on what kind are best?
I don't know which forwards are the best but the Harley forwards look and feel great compared to the mids that come on the bike. I have a 2011 FXDC with the HD forwards. At 6'2" I could not ride with the mids. To cramp for me. You may want to try to find a chrome plug for the primary hole. The plug that comes with the kit doesn't look good. I think it is stainless. Here are some pics of the HD mids on my Dyna. http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US
I had the HD forwards and went to the Kury +3 extended forwards. Both seem excellent and sturdy. The Kury's seem a bit beefier to me.
Note, of course, that the extended won't work with an engine guard while the HD's did. Love the Kury's around town. Would like the engine guard/hiway pegs back for 500+ mile runs. Too much work to swap em back and forth though.
