You can do that as well. My bags were small enough to fit so I used the rear docking bolt hole. Not sure of the size of your bags but when I did mine I did not like them relocated to the license plate so that is why I did mine that way. It worked great for me for a while and I had no issues at all, but then I eliminated them when I changed my taillight. Good luck and I hope this is able to help....
