Default seat scratches on fender

I do a lot of 2 up riding but I also like to put my solo seat on to switch up my riding positions. However, the rubber squares on the bottom of the seat leave little indentions in the fender. Is there anything you can do to stop the seat from doing this to the fender?

I don't use this but it has been recommended by other members.

Get a nice fender bib too. That walmart grip stuff beneath a fender bib and the seat on top.

Default Rubber Bumpers

I had a Sundowner passenger seat fitted on my 07'FXD before delivery,& the rubbers where attached to the Seat instead of the Fender which caused them to rub & mark the Fender(dealer replaced it)if the rubbers are on your Seat, you may be haveing the same issue, the fitting instructions show them fitted on the Fender(if I remember correctly)if yours where fitted by a Dealer,it may be worth talking to them.

Default Potentially I have same problem

Just bought a mustang solo and the round rubber (chairs) on the bottom of the pillion are really tight on the fender when I bolt it down. This concerned me as I haven't had a passenger up there yet for any length of time and I thought I should maybe grind them down some to take the pressure off. Is that a good or bad idea?

Also I ordered a fender bib but assumed it comes off when a pillion is mounted. Is it just for when the pillion is off or can it stay on to protect the fender with a pillion mounted too?

After I had my tank and fender set repainted I cut a small piece of soft terry cloth towel to go between the seat and the fender. I cut is just large enough to provide sufficient cushion but not so large that it would show around the edges of the seat. Seems to be working well thus far.

Those rubber pads do just what you see.
I wouldn’t trust them myself.

Most fender bibs have a raised border that can cause
excessive ware if left on, been there done that.

I cut out a couple layers of felt and spray glued them
on the inner passenger area of the seat to be on the safe side.

I’m a solo rider however, if I were going to ride 2 up I
would also add to the fender a piece of that sticky
removable clear plastic that came with one of my other rides.
It’s cut to fit the shape of a fender.
The HD parts dept. should have a part number.

If standing on the rear pegs isn’t an option,
I might give the above a try.

So should I remove the rubber pads then instead of grinding them down and then add either the felt or plastic (both?) you are suggesting?
Edit: Also line the fender bib or don't use it?

Question

Don't know why that question mark showed up Opps, anyway

Best option there is IMO, I went thru all this crap myself because I too ride solo and 2up with a pass pillion that scratches the rear fender. Go to your local window tint specialist and have them apply the same material to the fender that is used on the front of cars for bugs and rock chips (clear bra) have them fab you a peice to fit right under the pass pillion you can barely notice it and it works GREAT! I have had mine on there since the middle of the summer with multiple rides 2up and it looks great can't barely notice and it does not scuff either. When it gets really worn out (if it does?) just replace it. Also place some soft felt on the bottom side of pass. pillion and your golden. Costed me 40 bucks at the local guy here in my town and he was happy to do it. Told him he should start advertising specifically for this at the local dealers many many would do it!
