Default Dyna Defender Parts Locator?

After a long search, I snagged an '04 Dyna Defender yesterday. Mustered out of service from the El Paso PD in July. Runs/rides excellent, but has a lot of miles (45K), many dings and is missing a lot of FXDP-specific parts. I intend to restore her to original PD-issue trim (including pursuit lights, siren, pole light, etc.).

Any ideas/suggestions where good used Defender parts might be located? For example, notice in pic below the air cleaner was painted and the original trim decal with "Harley-Davidson" on top and "Police" below is gone. Where in heck could a feller ever find that? If at all? Since '04 was the last year they made it, H-D parts dept is not an option. I've found a few parts on eBay, but not much.

First place I'd try is the PD mechanics garage. Maybe they can help in finding sources for pieces/parts. Very nice ride. I've tried finding that specific engine guard so I can fit my floorboards, but no luck as yet.

p/n 29158-99 AIR CLEANER INSERT, POLICE

Available at Latus...

I have the 2004 FXDP parts catalog. If you need any p/n's just shoot me a PM and I'll check them for you!

Sometimes Ebay has auctions for FXDP parts. Another source could be Vintage Parts

Wow! That's just what I was looking for!

Thank you so much FXD2003Rider, you're just the resource I was hoping to chance upon.

I'll try not to pester you, but you can certainly expect pm's from me. And I'll deeply appreciate any advice you can offer!

Much obliged.

Sorry, I can't seem to be able to figure out how to pm on this forum. I must be missing something.

Anyways, I could really use the part# for the black rubber covers/inserts that cover the ends of the heel/toe shifter on my FXDP. See pic attached. As you can see, they are both torn/worn. This one-piece shifter seems to be quite unusual. There does not seem to be a FXDX analog. Is it FXDP-specific?

Anyways, any suggestion as to how I could locate these rubber shift lever covers would be greatly appreciated.

If you decide to contact the PD mechanics ask if they still have the parts manual for the bike. The FXDP must have its own parts manual. Could be a big help....

P/n for the COVER SHIFTER LEVER is 34619-85. The floorboard set-up with the one piece shifter lever is FXDP specific.

MoCo had this set-up in a kit for pre '06 Dyna models as well.

Here's a link from my ***H-D instruction sheets database*** to the Instruction Sheets:

Floorboard Kit Dyna ... 50601-01 (added 09-14-2009) kit is obsolete; individual p/n's still available!
Substitute by V-Twin Mfg ... p/n 27-0920 (added 02-12-2010)

Question

Don't mean to hijack...but...

Those floorboards look like they would give a very cramped riding position, both "not out very far" and "up kinda high."

Are they adjustable at all?

Many thanks Rene! Much appreciated.

One final question (for now , I noticed on your listings of wiring diagrams for Dynas, you have 2003 & 2005, but no 2004 for FXDX. Unless I missed something, can I assume a 2004 FXDX wiring is same as 2003? I don't suppose you have a diagram for the police package on an '04 FXDP?

Thanks again for all your help.
