Default Am I the only idiot struggling to change bulbs??

What's going on?? 2011 FXDB. The replacement bulbs won't tighten in. WTF??

I've done this a dozen times on other bikes, and now they won't screw on.

Thanks.

If I remember right, front bulbs and rear bulbs are different. One is a dual filament and one a single filament and the posts on the sides of the bulbs are in different places. It's been a while since I did this and I may be wrong but it might be something for you to check.

The 1157 dual filament bulbs have offset posts, the 1156 single filament bulbs have equal set posts. My FXD has 1157's front and 1156's in the rear.

You are correct and I was just like the original poster until I figured it out lol! I was stumped and knew I took them out but couldn't get them back in. I ordered the smoked lens kit from Harley and they put the same type of amber bulbs in the kit for the front and back, single filament. So I figured it out when I looked at my stock bulbs and saw the differance. Went down to my local auto store and got the right 2 bulbs for setup.

All good info - thanks!!

Repair manual?? I bought one for my last FX and never used it. I'm lazy -- it's either easy enough to do without the shop manual or I ask someone I know to show me how... When I was 16 (about 25 years ago) I tried to rebuild a very simply Ford 302 motor. My 3 weeks project took 4 months and the car never ran right again. That's when I realized I am not a wrench. And I have reproven this to myself many times since.

I run two bikes. That's because every time I try to some simple procedure I end up taking one out of service!
