Peg clearance and how to make it better
I am very lucky here in San Diego, I have some of the greatest twisties around. Wonderful for the Ninja, but not so great for the SB and how I like to ride. I scrap the pegs 25-30% of the time.
I thought I had a solution. I got some 2" kuryakyn peg extenders, sort of "S" shaped, normally for moving highway pegs down and out. I was planning on moving pegs up and back to give me more clearance. And I'm short enough that I wasn't worried about moving my feet under me more.
Two problems. One, pegs do not fit in the extenders! The peg will not go down far enough to be level. I tried with my Airfoil pegs and the stock pegs.
But the other thing is even if the pegs fit, the extenders moved my pegs out away from the bike over an inch. Kinda of weird feeling.
Anyone have any clever ideas to get me some more peg clearance?

You got a Street Bob? I'm assuming that's what you meant buy SB, and from your sig.Anyway the first thing you ought to try is cranking up, that's right I said up, your rear shocks.I did this with mine and the change in handling and clearance was amazing.If that's not enough you might want to invest in some upscale longer shocks like the ones on the old FXDX.There's a guy somewhere on this board with a pretty sporty Superglide with Ohlins rear shocks and Racetech springs and emulators up front I'll bet it goes around corners pretty good.

Yup, Street Bob. I have already bumped up the shocks a couple of notches. But I am also 5'4" and already have my heels in the air, can't go up too much farther! Good idea, though, I should play with that a bit more.
I don't mind scrapping, but I mind that it is limiting my turning when I think the bike has a bit more it can do.

I am 5'6" and it sounds like you may have reached the boudaries of the bike in the lean capacity. Look on the net and see what the lean angles are on the two bikes. This is just IMO but the dyna is a hybrid handling wise between a cruiser and a crotch rocket, it's good for both but doesn't have the capacity of either.

Here is the lean angle information right off the HD website for your Bob. The lean angles for stock Superglide aren't much different, so there's a limited amount of cornering lean to begin with. Lowering shocks, footpegs, etc. can result in making it worse.

The one thing you have to avoid is going into a corner to far over and having your footped dig into the pavement, not just scrape. That could cause you to lose control and have a real nasty outcome. Moving the pegs up will help somewhat, since if the pipes contact the pavement, they' scrape, but won't dig in. I know pegs are cheaper than pipes to replace, but like a previous post mentioned, you didn't buy a canyon carver for a bike, it's at best a compromise between a cruiser and a sport bike.
After I put the forwards on my Dyna (and I'm not that much taller than you), I found that keeping my foot on the forward pegs did make the bike scrape a little sooner, but now, when I feel the heel of my boot contact the pavement, it's an early warning that I'm about to scrape something a whole lot more expensive. You have a fine line between looking good and being functional. Hope some of this helps out.

Get the Short Pegs from HD. That helped me a bunch.
I need to redo my exhaust *again* because I chew on it almost every time. With the shorter pegs I can hit the primary cover and rear axle nut at times. The tire is the limiting factor for me on the left side. Exhaust still the factor on the right.
Post up some pics of what you come up with.....

I will check out those pegs. I also have chewed up my muffler, but it's the bottom so who sees it!
I definitely don't want to address the peg issue and then make it so I can lean too far But I really feel there is a bit more to go past those darn pegs. I know this isn't a sportbike, after years of trying to make my sportster behave like one, I finally bought one. But these twisties are a huge percentage of my riding and I want to get as much as I can out of the dyna.
