I'm not sure I follow the math on potential savings associated with having a lift.... perhaps it's just a contrast in out of pocket expense and having something (a really nice jack) to show for it, vs. a service ticket stamped paid.

But, that said, if I didn't already own a 4-year old descent jack that worked "well enough" for the types of service I do on my own on a variety of different bikes, I would have definitely picked up a J&S for the Wide Glide vs. some of the other more cost-saving solutions. Good tools are, well... good tools. They last a lifetime.

If I can figure out how to break my Harbor Freight jack or pawn it off on someone else for 1/2 of what I paid, perhaps a J&S will be in my future.

Harbor Freight jack here. Stand the bike up, slide jack under, add a small piece of 1 by under the left side, and lift away!

I had this problem until I bought this one off eBay.

Mine is red though and I have no problem sliding it under my scoot.

I sold my red sears jack for 60 bucks too! Haha

Simply put... Ive done all services to my bike and if you want to remove wheels, forks, triple trees or do any engine work it makes it alot easier. Avg cost at dealer for 1000K, 5000K, 10000K services $150-350(+\-).
I spend about 45-60 bucks for Amsoil for my oil if i change all three holes. My lift has more than paid for it self by me doing all my maintenance and the cam swap i did.

Bottom line..Its worth it! I dont worry about my bike falling off the lift, dont strap it down and it jacks up and down with ease.

Sorry for hijack

I have the Harbor Freight jack with the supports mounted on the outside to clear the oil pan. I only use the jack to lift the bike because I then lower onto a Pepsx stand. That's as stable as it gets. No need to tie the bike down and I can sit on it if I want to. I store it on the Pepsx during the winter since I have concrete floors in an unheated garage.

+ on the J&S! I love mine! I recently lowered my bike and it still works great and still picks the bike up right off the jiffy.

I also have the oil pan adapter. Pull all three plugs and let them drain at the same time.
