1997 Dyna Wide Glide - Drivetrain Questions
OK big project in the planning stages for this winter, looking for some advice/opinions. Background, my 97 Wide Glide is already running a stock 2000 Dyna swingarm and 4 piston caliper, using a stock wheel/ pulley/ rotor.
So I want to A) install the Ultima 2" open belt drive and B) change the rear drive belt from 1-1/2" to the HD 1-1/8" so I can C) install a 150 rear tire on the stock size wheel and stock fender.
Lots of talk about this Ultima/Jireh open primary, has anyone actually bought and installed it yet and therefore have a opinion on quality, function, etc? What are peoples thoughts on chroming or powder coating the motor plate? (Ultima only offers polished and tells me they do not suggest anything else?!?!).
I have been told the pulley in the primary has enough depth to allow for the 1-1/8" belt/ pulley with the 2000 and up offset, anyone done this and can agree or disagree? Any snags or other mods that might be necessary?
Lastly has anyone gone up to a 150 tire on the same bike and had it fit with the stock fender? I believe the belt change is required to go over 140 but I am very open to your experience.
Big project has big questions, thanks in advance for all of the information.

I have a '97 - you can run a 150 if you change to the 1 1/8" belt AND it will fit the stock fender. I've done it.
I still have the 1 1/8" belt if you are interested.
FYI - I've since gone to a 180 on a 18" x 5.5" wheel. Had to cut the fender horns and am running a softail fender. Running a 3/4" belt.

Thanks for the responses.
When you installed the 1-1/8" belt, what other modifications did you have to make? I know I will need a new rear pulley, was going to hit up Ebay for a stock 2000 pulley. Not sure if I will need to change the wheel to a 2000 wheel for offset purposes, did you run into this? And am I correct that no changes where needed inside the primary for the narrower belt?
