Default Anyone know/run this oil cooler?

Wimmer...

http://www.wimmermachine.com/_html/22.html

8inch tube is just $105, adapter for Twinkie motor is $115...

So $220 for the set up and it looks like it'll be pretty low profile on the down tube.

I have seen these in use. According to the trusty Harley temp guage it made the oil run hotter. The only ones I have seen that were effective are the jagg with thermostat.

Im no Harley mechanic but I really cant see how an oil cooler could make it run hotter unless there was a blockage or it was installed completely wrong. Just that fact that the oil is coming out of the engine through a rubber hose and then back would offer some degree of cooling effect. I could see it not cooling enough to change the temp, but hotter? Maybe there wasnt enough oil to make up for the added capacity of the cooler?

I'm partial to Jaggs coolers...not that others don't work, but I'm more about function than looks.

i dont know how true it is but I was told chrome is a horrible dissipator of heat. Had a mechanic tell me the best thing i can do for my bike is add an oil cooler but if it was chrome forget about it.

I have been told that same thing all my life. If you run a chrome oil cooler, it wont cool anything. My only experience was running a chrome oil pan on my old muscle car. I was told to replace the chrome one with the stock pan to see if it helps with heat. Sure enough temp dropped 10 degrees by just replacing the chrome pan.
