Has anyone used the wrinkle black Screaming Eagle backplate (29586-06) yet? All the bikes around here use the natural finish one that comes with the kit, but I haven't seen a wrinkle black one yet. Is there a problem with it? Thanks for any info.

 

I had a wrinkle black one one my 08 FXDF till I switched to a new intake. Same as the one that comes in kit only wrinkle black. Worked fine and looks a lil blacker.

 

And the part you would want is #29119-08, Fits '08 and later Dynas. The part number you posted is only for '99-'07 Dynas.

 

When I put the SE air filter on my 05 FXDLI, the backing plate was the natural Alum finish. So I cleaned it real good, put a real light coat of primer then sprayed on some BBQ black paint. That was three years ago, no problem and handles the engine heat just fine.

 

Are you looking to change what you have? From natural to wrinkle black? If you are just spray it with wrinkle black paint. Or like others said spray it with bbq paint if it gets that hot around the heads. I originally bought the natural stage 1 ac but didnt like the look. I sold it and just went with a differnt style. If the backing plate was black it would look 10 times better.

 

Yep. Had it and an Air Cleaner cover PC'd wrinkle black. Works fine

 

Thanks for the replys. I'm going with that one, because I wanted something smaller than the stock one, but with more air flow. Yes I know that is not the correct part number for my bike, but it does fit my engine (check the link below). Thanks.

Do you have any pictures of a painted item with that wrinkle paint? I have a few bits that I would like to paint wrinkle black.
