Default 2011 Dyna Wide Glide Exhaust

Hello all, new member and recent purchaser of a 2011 Wide Glide. I dont actually pick the bike up for a while from the dealer, but I know already that the stock exhaust has to go.

I was wondering for those who have already modified thier exhaust, what are your opinions on what is best out there?

I do not like the 2-n-1 look, I would prefer to go with two separate pipes, but its not a deal breaker if I dont. I like the looks of the Vance and Hines ShortShots, but from what I am reading they are incredibley loud.

I want the unmistakable sound a rumble of a Harley, but I dont want to be deafened by my own pipes and have an uncomfortable ride.

All suggestions welcomed! Thanks!

I too wanted a little more sound without the hassle of extra throttle components. I wrote vance and hines and sampson and both agreed that with the stock air cleaner and either of their systems, the 2010 Wide Glide would be just fine without any other modification. I chose the Vance and Hines Straightshots. After the first day I said "WHEW" these sure are loud and ordered the quiet baffles. They did the trick. Funny though, yesterday after having the quiet baffles on for @3 months, I went back to the original baffles for a little more ooomph!! Especially after going on a LARGE(300+) bike ride this past weekend. My V&H pipes kinda got lost in all the LOUD pipes around me.

Default Cobra Exhaust

The first mod I did was take off the exhaust on my wide glide. My son said it sounded like a four wheeler. A friend of mine has vance and hines short shots and they are too loud for me. I like the look and sound of the cobra slashcuts.

I went with the V&H big shots staggered. I like the sound and love the look of them. I also upgraded the air filter with a RSD Black Ops Turbine and had the bike remapped. IMHO, these were the top mods I did with my bike and I am very happy with the results.

Do you know if your friend had the optional baffles in his short shots?

its not unbearably loud. it sounds like a harley should.
fit and finish of the pipes are very good.

Spend a day at any bike event, or dealership open house (we have one this Sat). Listen to some of the bikes & when you hear a nice sounding scoot pull in - go chat w/the rider about their exhaust...

Question: When you say you had the bike re-mapped; did you go to the local H-D shop and remap the factory module or did you go elsewhere(where) and/or get some sort of mod-module?
