Default Stereo upgrades ...

... my right speaker crapped out on me a few days ago ... started buzzing ...

Got a set of Alpine 6-1/2" SPS-610 speakers to replace the bad speaker ...

... had been thinking about replacing the head unit for a while ... so, decided to just do it all ...

Picked up a Sony DSX-S100 head unit that has a pop out tray into which you can plug your iPod ... or just a USB with .mp3 files ...

Also got an Alpine amp KTP-445 ... the setup is a vast improvement over the POS I had before ...

to be honest i am not a fan of the flip out tray sony but i have buddys that rock them, i think the navigation blows for the ipod... speakers go with polk audio DB series 100% man you will love them!
or is this saying you arleady got this stuff... either way the stuff you have listed is all top notch stuff, iw ould jsut recomend looking into other head units. the kenwood i am rocking in mine is unreal and it plays video. super easy to use and navigate and XM ready

Already bought and installed ....

The thing I found most attractive about the head unit is it is 'self contained' ... although it has the capability of a Aux input on the front panel, I can put my source in the USB tray and put the splash guard down ....

The only thing I have yet to figure out is why I can't get FM to come in ... I am using a 15" rubber FM antenna mounted inside the fairing .... Do I need an FM signal pre-amplifier ...?

I'll post a video I am uploading to youtube ... it is taking forever to upload ....

SURFOR Chop, what size bars are you running on your bike, I am considering going to a 12" ape but not sure yet

I replaced the Super Glide bars with stock Street Bob/'07-earlier Wide Glide bars ... I drilled them out so I could run my wiring internally and had them powdercoated black ... I'm using 4" 'dog-bone' offset risers that have had 3/8" cut off the bottom to clear my fairing ....

Since the Nightster came out, I believe the same bars are now available from the dealer in black ....

I think the measurement on the stock bars is supposed to be something like 10-1/2" ... with the stock risers should put them at about 12" rise from the upper triple tree ....

thanks, looks like the 12" apes will be just about right
my drag bars have a 6" rise and the fairing wont clear it so I am going to drop back to something similar to what you have here, dont want to put my OE bars back on, did not care for them too much

Chop, looking good and sounding good!
Now its time to go internal with all the handlebar controls (clutch, brake and throttle).

Joe, dont you think video is a bit much for a bike? I dont even want to hear about you watching "Debbie Does Dallas" while your riding down the road...
