Default Intermittent powerloss

I have an 08' Fatbob with about 18,000 miles. It is having an intermittent powerloss issue. I will be riding (doesn't matter what gear or RPM) and the power will cut out for a split second and then cut back on. The headlight dims and the speedo drops. I've checked the battery terminal connections and they are TIGHT. There is also a strange whining noise as well now (not quite sure if it's related). Anyone have any ideas or can lead me to where I might have a bad ground?

Could be lots of things. First thought is a relay going bad or a circuit breaker. Maby corrosion behind the ignition switch. Relays can make a buzz when they go bad. Could be a stator going out or Maby your comp is whipping out your stator. Maby some corrosion behind your fuse box. Good luck.

A bad stator would cause the whining noise AND powerloss?

You said you checked your battery terminal connections. The ground wire to the frame could cause the intermittent problems as well.

I am going to say the battery terminals need tightened a little, or the negative to the frame.

If it was a Stator or R/R it would just ride until the battery died.

Does your bike stay outside?
Have you checked your plug wires for a tight fit, and or if the plugs are spent?

If by power loss you mean it is cutting out, and then busting back off. I would bet battery terminal bolts are loose.

Another thing to do is look for any codes that are being thrown. There is a thread here that shows you how to do it, and you view them where your Odometer is located, and the thread will also tell you what they code is trying to tell you. I would do this first, and then check the battery terminals.
