Alright need some help. My first harley so I'm new at the whole workings of these bikes. Does that battery cover band just pull off? I wanted to yank on it and see if it comes off, but didn't want to screw anything up. Thanks for all the replies.

You must first remove the battery cover, then look inside it, see the tabs, just squeeze together and push it out, now do the next one and the next and the next.

Thanks for the response. Will have to give it a try. Good thing I didn't just yank it off.

ok...someone stop me! i think im out of control!!

dont know how many other states have this issue w/ their tags, but md. tags are odd-sized or something, very few aftermarket license frames will fit w/ out cutting the tag...on my layback plate mount i had to drill two new holes to line up w/ md.'s holes in their tag, which left 4 factory holes in the backing plate[part that mounts to fender]
and you know what i do with those empty holes!!

lemme know what you guys think...have i lost touch? gone overboard?
heh i think it's pretty effin cool
thanks,
m.

Cant make my mind up mike, i took mine off today with the same thoughts as you, it looks like sh!!.
I was gonna spray mine wrinckle black, but after seeing yours, i might check what else is out there to put in the holes.
I have plenty off time, cause the weather over here is baltic, and wet, so i have a couple of months to decide.
I did exactly that, last Thursday. I took it off and sprayed it with Krylon black texture paint. I can't believe how well it matches the speedo mount:

Can't see it too well here, but it's the only picture I have:
