I never liked that trim either. I went with this...

There's also one like that that has "Super Glide" written on it.

Just put the chrome one on my Bob....surprised that it only has adhesive holding it on...hope it's damn good adhesive! Does look better than the stock one....

Cheers mike, i painted the cover last night with wrickle black to do me the now.
Im thinking of taking the the tank emblems off, especialy if i go for grey pin stripeing.
So the idea with the harley emblem on the bat cover sounds good to me.
Thanks again, more food for thought.
ride safe man.

Has anyone thought of taping off the ridges on the original cover and painting the rest wrinkle black? I am planning on doing this to mine. I think it will flow nicely with the black and chrome of the engine. If anyone has some photoshop skills, could they hook me up, so I'll know what it's gonna look like before I do it.

Cool, post pics when you get it done. I would like to see it.

RonnR, I am thinking of just the opposite of what you did. You're right though it is way better than stock.

First I did the plastic plugs and it looked OK from the side but when you look at it from an angle it looks like a big chunk of the battery cover is just gone.So I cleaned up the trim piece real good and sprayed it Rusto high heat black which is a pretty close match to the "black denim" It's nothing spectacular to look at but it matches the rest of the bike better than that wierd brushed pewter that came on it.I guess the band was supposed to match the original tank badges which were one of the first things to go on mine.Back to the spikes though they look good but I'd be afraid I'd snag something, my luck it'd be the day I went out and dropped 189.99 on some riding pants or something.
