Stock TC103 vs Stock TC96
I just got back from H-D Demo Day and rode a 2012 Fat Bob with the TC103 and a 2012 Super Glide Custom with the TC96.
The TC103 was noticeably stronger than the 96 particularly between 2500 and 4000 RPM. From stopped or a roll on from any throttle position from 0 to 85 kph in any gear from 1st to 4th the TC103 had more pull.

Welcome
Hi,welcome to the forum, not sure why you got a tongue lashing in a couple of threads,(maybe they got to bed late)from memory i don't recall reading any opinions on a standard 96 & 103 in the Dyne line-up,especially demo truck bikes where you could compare them better,so i think it's good info.
I rode a 96 & 103 RoadKing earlier this year,but they where showroom bikes,so couldn't stretch them out.
The most noticable thing to me was how much better the 103 felt at low revs in 6th gear.
I'm now thinking the 96"FatBob i bought(in preference to the Roadkings)now needs the 103"
i had forgotten how well it cruised in the RoadKing.
So thanks for the thread & costing me Money(Smiley inserted)i don't know how to add one in the post.

Generally, the larger the engine, the more power it will make.
Offsettng that is how a particular engine is tuned. In some cases, a smaller engine can be tuned to perform better than a larger engine.
All things being equal, however, logic says the bigger engine will produce more power. It is processing greater charges of energy-producing fuel and air.
Having said that, I have been satisfied with the 96 in my Super Glide Classic so far. I have the open air cleaner backing plate, scfreamin eagle mufflers and the 103 Stage One EFI re-flash.
These bikes are lighter in weight than the Touring models and the 96 really pulls the thing along smartly. This bike will hit a hundred in no time.
My biggest challenge now is re-working the suspension.
My interest is not achieving the low-down cool look but rather in being able to lean it over hard on the curvy stuff and not have it drag something or begin the irritating wobble. Im looking at jacking the bike up, maybe putting some cartridges in the forks and some decent shocks on the back.
I wish H-D would focus more on handling.

Other stuff
Welcome to the forum, and if you are thinking bout the 103, it also comes standard with an oil cooler that the 96 doesn't, at least on the touring line. Some things you pay for on the 96 come standard on the 103 so when you add all those things in, assuming you would want them on your bike, the price difference is not that great.

For those that gave thanks for the support.
Based on the reading I did before the Demo Days it was not obvious to me if you could feel the difference between the TC103 and the 96 due to the strict EPA emissions regulations.
The other thing that was not obvious to me was if you could feel the difference where the power would be. The Demo ride answered this question.
I'm currently riding a Honda 88 CBR600 that I have ridden since new for the past 23 years. I'm planning to make the move to a Dyna for next season.
I was looking at the Custom (I liked the price better) but with the 2012 being one of only two big twin models with the TC96 and not getting a significant price drop I figured I should start looking at the Fat Bob as well.
From the Demo ride I also found out that I fit the Fat Bob better (pegs and bars).
