Default Remove license plate 2009 Street Bob

Thinking of running a sideplate and wanted to know how difficult it is to remove the license plate holder on the 2009 Street Bob. Anyone done it. Does it leave and remnants behind, or is it clean, bobbed fender?

I wanna go to side mount... There will be holes to plug. Other than that, should be clean.

I did it and it looks nice but theres 2 things you have to do after to make it look clean:

1. When you remove the plate from the rear light you will have to cut off the tab that the plate sits on from the back of the tail light or it will not look good. Cut it off on both sides and round it up / sand it. After that I guess repaint it or re-chrome it. I like black so it wast a problem for me.

2. When you take off the rear plate it will reveal a small notch in the middle of the fender right on the lip - I brought it to my friends body shop and got it welded and filled.

So it is a little bit of work but IMO it is worth it.

in this pic you can see the notch im talking about - i rode like that for a while and it deosnt look bad

in this pic you can see the complete work:

good luck!

Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but I think he wants to remove the whole assembly to run a sidemount w/ tail light. In that case there is a large hole in the fender that needs to be filled.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I want to run a sideplate with tail light, but it will be in addition to the stock light, so no big *** hole to worry about.

I run the road6customs horizontal side mount with the model A tail lamp. Replace the fender with the Chopped one offered by the MoCo, it was cheaper then getting the fender reworked, and yes I only ordered the fender, not the kit.
