Default New rider looking at 35th ann. super glide

Any comments, tips and information will be greatly appreciated. I haven't ridden a street bike for about 40 years, and I'm about to buy a low-mileage, 2006, 35th anniversary, super glide. Other than taking a riding class, is there anything I need to know? Is this bike a good choice? Any particular problems, etc I need to be aware of with this bike?

Thanks,

Jack

The bike is a good choice but they do have their issues. Depending on when it was produced there are three biggies. These bikes are prone to inner primary bearing failure, rotor failure that takes out the stator and the early bikes had injector issues. Check with the owner to see if any of these have been addressed and use it as a bargaining chip if they have not been taken care of. If you do a search on 2006 issues you will find all you need to know. If it were me none of this would deter me from buying if the price is right.

I have a 2006 built in May '06 and it has 22k on it now and has been virtually flawless. My only issues under warranty (or since) were a rear brake light switch that went bad and a peeling front master cylinder cover. Feel bad for the folks on here that have had all the problems with their '06's.

The bike is a bank repo with 2650 miles on it. Don't know yet about the repairs & replacements. Looks like the price will be somewhere between $10K and $11K.

Thanks for all the valuable information.

Personal opinion, too much $$$$. There are a lot better deals out there.

Bank owned? Offer 8k and let them counter. Look around with your $ in place.

That price seems high in this market. As stated the '06 did have a few issues but none that would keep me from one if the deal was right.
