Default Dual Exhaust

The front header pipe needed two blade width "pie cuts", then entire assembly pushed forward and made level (this because Electra-Glide motors are cocked forward). The rear header pipe is cut completely off, about a 1/2 inch removed and rewelded. The reason for moving everything forward is for the rear pipe to clear the oil filler. The EG transmission mount needs to extended forward about 2 inches. The shields still fit with these minor shape changes.

Default Dual Exhaust

The exhaust crossover needs to be supported as well. On an EG there is a transmission mount bracket. On a Dyna that is not really possible, so I welded a 1/4 thick steel plate to the rear isolator (the part that shakes with the engine) and bolted the OEM bracket to that. The rear muffler hangers will be done just like an EG when I get my new saddlebags. The saddlebag mounting system will not be removable as it will be supporting the mufflers through rubber isolated mounts.

You can see in the thumbnail photo that the crossover had to have 2 pie cuts, one vertical and one horitontal. for the final tweaking to get the mufflers level and straight with each other.

Default Dual Exhaust

Here is a picture I took after I got it level but before I stretched the collector. This shows that the shields still fit. The large shield will be grafted with a 2nd one to get the right length. The muffler is just a OEM Dyna that I had laying around. I will be getting replica 1958-78 Cigar style mufflers.
