Default Rear fender swap

I have a 2011 Fat Bob and just can't get over the looks of the stock rear fender. What I think I'de like to do is go with a solo seat and mount a fender that will better follow the lines of the rear tire. I'm just not sure how to go about doing this best. Look wise, I think maybe a chopped Street Bob fender is what I'm wanting. Now for my questions. Would this be a bolt on conversion? I'd like to avoid any fab work if possible. What other parts would I need to round up? If anyone has done this I would like to hear how it went and I would like to see some pictures. If anyone has a different idea for accomplishing this look, I'm open to suggestions.

Streetbob fender is too narrow so you will need 9" wide fender. A new wideglide fender will bolt on but will need to relocate you turn sigs and taillight. Because the fatbob strut cover is longer so it will mot fit. There are a few threads where this has been done and looks really good. Just search for them

I am doing the same thing this winter except I'm using a wide glide fender and tail lights. From what I understand this is just a swap, but you need the rear wiring from the WG as well since the turn signals and brake lights are the same.

Thanks for the fast replies. I'll start looking for a wide glyde fender and struts and take it from there. Cant wait to get this done. Rear fender, solo seat, tank lift and drop the rear end an inch or so and I'll be getting close to the look I'm looking for.

The forum search tool is your friend...

The above link takes you to the Fat Bob to Wide Glide fender conversion page. Lots of good info there including a list of parts, and yes, it basically just bolts on, no fab required. You will need to figure out somewhere else to put your license plate.

I'm using the Harley light kit 73416-11 on the Wide Glide Fender. This allows you to keep the stock Fat Bob turn signal wiring, and use the 73416-11 light as the brake light. No Brake/turn module needed, plus IMHO it suits the rear fender nicely.
