Default How to pull old fork springs from 2006 Street Bob

I am in the process of installing Progressive Susp. drop-in lowering kit and after removing the forrk caps, spacer, and washer the next step is to remove the springs. How? They are way down in there around 8-10" Any help would be appreciated!

push up on the tire (compress the suspension) and the spring will rise up in the tube.

Default Got it!

Thanks for replies. Just was not sure if I would scratch up inside. Lifted front wheel and used wire. Rear shocks were easy. Got about 1/4" on sides of 180 tire and fender. Will post pics tomorrow.

I have yet to find anyone that was born pre-loaded with all motorcycle knowledge. You learn as you go, from others and yourself. Never stop trying.................

Use a wire hanger to reach down, hook the spring, and then remove it SLOWLY as fluid will come up and over the top with it.

i use a coat hanger and rags in the shop if it is a drop in kit you have... what kind of progressive kit are you useing... just want to make sure it is a drop in, and you do not have to repalce your top out springs on the damper

As everyone else has said, a wire hanger works good, that's what I used.
