you may not like the way it comes out, but Plastidip. its a spray on rubber, looks like rhino liner, wrinkle black, and stays on well. if you don't like it, you can peel it off. you can find it at loses and home depot. i have used it on my wheels and grille on my car, and works great.

try it out, you no like it, peel it off.

There have been members that used black enamel paint. I think it is the same paint that is used on appliances. A quick search should turn up a few threads. I've been thinking about painting mine as the rock marks on my forks have messed up the clear coat.

Forget the rattlecan treatment and do it right...Just buy a set of take-offs from eBay and have them powdercoated. The cost to coat shouldn't be more than 50 bucks.

Check ebay / craigslist / the forum classifieds for a set of black fork lowers already done. You may find a deal out there.

If it was a old/crappy bike (i.e. RAT-Fink ride) then sure...do the cheap home rattlecan job. Now your bike's a 09 & you want it to look good - do it right & get the lowers coated. One good hit will chip/peel spray can & it's all downhill from there. Coating's not that $pendy & get a service manual so you can remove/install yourself. With the right tools, knowhow & determination - you can do it all yourself.

PC will hold up better but the right paint will do pretty well, PJ1 Satin Black Engine and Case paint is pretty durable when applied correctly and allowed to fully cure. it is chip resistant and you can spill gas on it without staining or lifting. You may get lowers cheap or even get them coated cheaply but you have to factor in new seals and oil so not a $50 job - paint will be less than $10. All depends how much someone wants to spend.
