If you want to save a few bucks, get the VHT wrinkle black paint and scuff them up and spray them, then cure them in the oven. That stuff looks EXACTLY like the Harley wrinkle black

I have used the VHT on my horn cover, belt cover, shift levers and linkages, dash panel and homemade axle nut covers. People always ask what the HD part number is for those items because they cant tell the difference. Check out the page in my link. I have pics of all the pieces.

I put on 3 coats per the can instructions with 5 minute intervals. After the 3rd coat I give it about 15-20 minutes once it starts to wrinkle and I know it is wrinkling all over. I then move it directly to the oven at 200 for an hour. This makes the wrinkle very tight and and almost identical to the HD wrinkle. The trick is to build a stand or hang by wires and make sure the piece fits in the oven before you start painting. You want to be able to move the part without touching the paint. I use a 3M ScotchBrite Roloc disc on my right angle air grinder to prep the surface. Give it a good brushed look. Then clean with soap and water and wipe down with Acetone/Denatured Alcohol/Laquer Thinner, etc.
