Sorry about the error with the P.N.'s one of those '172-12 for $ 52.72 should be a '165-12 for $ 52.72. My apologies.

Everything is on! Looks real nice. get back to you folks later with answers to some of your questions, and details.

Best wishes,... Tim

Default nevative

the dyna defender heel toe shifter does not fit the new dyna switchback. it hits the boards and the shaft isn't long enought to get the bolt in.

The brake rod is adjustable & from what my local dealer says it should work with the floor board set up.

NOTES:
#1; If HD Fwd controls are already on the bike, the existing part is the same P.N
.If NOT HD Fwd controls, OR is HD mid controls, this part may be needed.

#2; These parts are needed if the bike has mid controls. If HD Fwd controls are already on the bike, these parts are not needed.

#3; These are Stock FLD (Chrome) footboards and come with the PAD, I Opted for P.N. 51322-08 FOOTBOARDS (Black) from the ’12 HD custom book (I’m not real big on chrome) and my parts guy gave me a set of stock “take off” standard PAD, footrest.`

Default no they aren't

the shifter pivot runs thru the bracket that holds the board.
the diameter is smaller than a touring bike so cutting and welding a touring shaft will not work for heel toe shifter. turning the shaft on a lathe will end up with an edge that will not seat correctly in the hole and will wobble.
I am buying a deluxe shift lever and shaft assembly. cutting the lever and welding on my own to make up for the length difference in the softail and the dyna.
I am seriously considering building the whole mechanism from scratch and spend all the money that I am going to save on beer .
shaft/arm 71
defender shifter 150 lists for 250!
touring shaft 17
heel shift lever 35

26 12 packs of corona and a feeling of pride in doing it my self, priceless.

I have over 150 miles of riding in checking out/buying parts that will not work. who knows how much useless information I have saturated my gray matter with. stack of old fl shifters. feeling a little obsessed with this now.

used to be "if you want it done right do it your self."
now it is more like "if you want it done at all do it yourself"
