First i had the HARLEY ones ( POLICE ) which are way over priced and they sit to high up sold them after 3 weeks , i have on the ones on i'm talking about just a different style floorboard but same company , they bolt to your hardware that your mid pegs use you don't need forwards with these they are very comfortable , these move back and forth and pivot up and down , right now mine are set in the middle so i can go forward if i wanted too , i have on a Thunderheader exhaust and they don't interfare at all ,

the dyna defender heel toe shifter does not fit the new dyna switchback. it hits the boards and the shaft isn't long enought to get the bolt in.
using switchback boards and mounts will lead into exhaust clearance issues on the right side.
a one piece fl heel toe shifter will not work it hits the boards.
there was a dyna cop bike called the defender. it came with boards and a one piece heel toe shifter part number 33706-01
I ordered it we will see if it worx.

no they aren't
the shifter pivot runs thru the bracket that holds the board.
the diameter is smaller than a touring bike so cutting and welding a touring shaft will not work for heel toe shifter. turning the shaft on a lathe will end up with an edge that will not seat correctly in the hole and will wobble.
I am buying a deluxe shift lever and shaft assembly. cutting the lever and welding on my own to make up for the length difference in the softail and the dyna.
I am seriously considering building the whole mechanism from scratch and spend all the money that I am going to save on beer .
shaft/arm 71
defender shifter 150 lists for 250!
touring shaft 17
heel shift lever 35
26 12 packs of corona and a feeling of pride in doing it my self, priceless.
I have over 150 miles of riding in checking out/buying parts that will not work. who knows how much useless information I have saturated my gray matter with. stack of old fl shifters. feeling a little obsessed with this now.
used to be "if you want it done right do it your self."
now it is more like "if you want it done at all do it yourself"
