Default Best tires for '10 WG?

Getting close to needing a new rear tire, nearing 8k and wear bars are starting to close, so what's the general consensus re a better tire set? Michelin, Metzler or Avon? Will probably stay with oem sizing but whats the next larger size thats ok for the front? Thanks

If you are sticking with the stock size (180/60-17) on the rear you will have a hard time finding many options, only ones I could find in that size were the stock Dunlop GT502 or the Pirelli Night Dragons.
Stock front is an 80/90 21 so you can go up to a 90/90 21 for a little bigger tire.

I have the Pirelli Night Dragons on my scoot, and they're a hundred times better than the factory Dunlop's. My factory's last almost 5k, and my Dragon's have almost that many miles on them and still have a ways to go. They feel a little stickier than the factories, and I upgraded the front to a 90/90 and I think the ride feels a lot better. Just my .02.

Just switched my '10 FXDC to Metzlers from the OE Michelins about a month ago. (at 13090K) I can't say enough about what an improvement this was. (now at 14455k) Metzler rocks! and Dennis Kirk was the best price. (do my own mounting and balancing)

Thanks for the info guys. I'll probably let the local dealer mount and balance, no way I can do it. I'll check on the Pirelli and the Metzlers availability via the dealer, need to have the spokes checked as well. Thanks again.

Find a indy shop to do it, the dealer will charge you out the *** for the tires. Some indy's will let you buy the tires yourself and mount them for you.

Im running the Pirelli Night Dragon on the back and a 90/90 Metzeler on the front.....best combo i have ever had....Sticks to the road and rides smooth...

The pirelli is a good tire...Right at 5 or 6k on it right now and holding up really well

I just put on a set of Night Dragons. Handling is much improved and for some reason I'm not scraping the pegs so much even though I'm hitting the corners harder.

How's this?

Night Dragon 90/90:

BTW, I really like the Night Dragon tires on my bike! I had to work to get the bike around the curves before I put these tires on. Now it's much easier to handle, fast or slow. How many miles you get out of them can only be determined by how you ride. Of course they're sticky performance tires, so they weren't designed to last forever.
