The wifes cracked straight up each side of the tail light.

And its completely because of the license plate. It acts as a parachute if you will..

Its catching wind and literally pushing back and up on the assembly. So imagine you grabbed the taillight and license plate and pulled up on it and shook it for an extended period of time... If its not properly secured and reinforced its going to eventually wear down and crack, and once that crack starts...well it spreads like wild fire.

On the wifes, one side the crack is about 2 or 3 inches long, the other side it has spread to almost 6 inches and is up past the light and becoming jagged.....

So from what i am seeing unless i change the light and plate mount, the new replacement fender is going to do the same thing......

I was wanting to relocate my turn signals and didnt like HD's option for an 11 street bob. I was looking for a licence plate mounted system for the turn signals. I suppose putting more weight on the license plate might make the problem even worse..

Allright. Took the light off tonight..... Took a look at the options and its going to be farely simple....

Just going to have to make a new backplate to match up to the 3 mounting holes where the light used to be. Should be simple enough....

The first couple of pics are just of the break in the back fender....

The next 2 are my mock up. Secured by only 1 screw but covers everything and the wife liked it so this is the way we are going to go...

Hey Warrior, you posted in my thread that has since been deleted. You mentioned you may want to sell your light.

Can you email me at kris @ koastaltech . com and let me know if you decide to sell it? I will pay $100 shipped if you wanna send it ASAP, I will pay you right away lemme know!

Thanks !!

I had installed the hd solo rack and it really makes the rear fender sturdy, no cracks here.
gives my roll bag a good base.

I am surprised the MoCo hasn't spot welded a reinforcement panel behind the taillamp/license bracket ....
