New HD "distressed" bags and Cycle Visions Barebacks
I got a pair of like new HD distressed bags off of eBay. I will ride 80% of the time without bags so I bought the Cycle Visions Barebacks detachable bag system.
Here are some pics along with the install if anyone is considering a similar set up.
One nice thing about the barebacks is that they are designed for OEM bags. I have no idea if they work on other aftermarket bags.
Here is the side view of the bag installed.
Other side
Here is a top view. The bags do not stick out that far. It's a really good look in my opinion.
Here is the rear view - both bags installed.
This is the optional chrome cap. Cleans up the look of the bike when the bags aren't attached.
As for the install - it's very straight forward.
Here is the inside of the bag. One nut and washer. (use a little blue loctite).
Outside of the bag - make sure the opening is pointing down.
You remove the studs and replace with the mail fittings for the barebacks system. Use blue loctite.
The rear gets a spacer as seen here.
Front - no spacer:
That's it. Put the bags on the bike to do a final alignment and you're off... with or without bags!

Thanks for posting such a great solution to something that I've been trying to find an answer for some time now.
I do have a question for you though, what about securing the bags? Is there a locking mechanism of some kind for the quick release on the bags?
Really is a nice solution.... Thanks for sharing

I run the exact same set up. Harldy ever put mine on, but it's great to have that option. Gonna head down to the Tellico Bike rally next month for few days. Pretty pumped for it. The only thing I didn't like about my moco bags was they looked brown. Fixed that with some leather stripper, dye, kiwi, and a brush. Look pretty good when they're shined up.
