Default HD Quarter Fairing - windshield extensions??

Hey guys,

I just recently purchased an HD quarter fairing from a forum member here. I absolutely LOVE it.

However, being that I've ridden 4 years without a windshield, I'm having a hard time adjusting to it. I'm getting TERRIBLE buffeting at highway speeds.

The fairing I bought came with a laminar windshield extension, but I think it makes the buffeting worse.

So, my question is.. are there any other options for a windshield extension? The one from laminar has a gap between the original windshield and the extension, which I find very strange.

Anyway, suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Adrian

Pics would help. Is the extension removable or adjustable?

the 1/4 fairing has alot of adjustability. The mounts are slotted and it can go from laid way back (more wind hitting you and causing buffeting) to pushed way forward (less wind on you and buffeting). Try adjusting it back and forth til you find the best spot.

You should adjust it for your height so the air flows over top of your head.

Ive gone ton up lots of times with a bikini fairing and never had any buffeting.

They were designed to tuck in behind, and when you want quick stopping to sit up right and use your chest as a air brake.

just curious to see what hd you put the quarter fairing shield on?

the cee baileys quarter fairing shield is made for the sportster xl-fxr and dyna fxd (just for future reference if you decide to try out a new fairing shield: http://www.ceebaileys.com/harley/hd_...ngshields.html )

as for the buffeting from the windshield extension... how far does it extend? maybe it's not extending tall enough to fight the wind.....?

another thing you can look into is a lower damper... i run a stearing damper and lower wind damper on my bike when i run the full fairing makes a huge diff!!!had to cut and mod it a bit but it works great

you can see it under my trees
