Default Props to Saddlemen (Deluxe Tail Bag)

I recently purchased the Saddlemen Deluxe Tail Bag because I needed some luggage space, it didn't require anything special (i.e. tall sissy bar), and the price was very reasonable (around $115).

Well after nearly a 2,000 mile round-trip to Sturgis and back, the bag worked very well. It held up great, and had lots of room (about 4-5 days worth of gear) and my jacket easily strapped to the top. And because it comes off so easy, when we arrived at hotels, I was fully unpacked from the bike in less than 30 seconds. The bag also acts as a great back rest.

The ONLY issue I came across was that stuff got wet in heavy rains. The gear at the bottom of the bag was really wet - so the road spray seem to cause more problem than the actual rain coming down. And again, this was in heavy rains. Simple solution, I wrapped my clothes in plastic bags.

All-in-all, a decent bag for a great price.

Sounds great. But, why not wrap the whole bag in plastic instead of the individual pieces inside?

I didn't have a bag that big. And because of how the bag has the tunnel over the rear seat, a large bag is needed.

My Saddlemen bag (not the same one as yours) came with a rain cover. I'm surprised your canvas type did not...
