This bar (bit in chrome for me)

Whiskers Adjustable Highway Bar

Stretch your legs and change riding position while you rack up the miles. Frame-mounted bar can be pivoted fore and aft to accommodate your inseam length, and locks in place with a common Allen wrench. The easy-to-install bar features a three-point mounting system that grips both down tubes. Highway Bar accepts your choice of H-DŽ style male-mount footpegs (sold separately). Available in mirror-chrome or gloss black finish.

This product is available in multiple variations. Be sure to look for the one that fits the specific model and year of your motorcycle.

Chrome and Rubber Collection Custom Footpegs

Chrome and Rubber both have their distinct places in the world of motorcycle styling. It seemed natural to bring the two together to create this unique collection. These cast, chrome-plated footpegs feature durable rubber treads with a molded-in Bar & Shield.

This product is available in multiple variations. Be sure to look for the one that fits the specific model and year of your motorcycle.

The Engine guard does help protect the bike to a certain extent, it will also allow more flexibility in comfort as you can mount the pegs anywhere on the bars that will make you the most comfortable. you can put them as high or low as you want angle them in or out if you want, whatever works for you.

I prefer and own the highway peg mounting kit. The engine guard kit reminds me too much of a softtail...like the heritage classic, etc, so I went with the mounting kit attached to the downtubes. It functions well enough for my needs (74" tall), which is to extend my legs and relax while cruising. And it's not too tall/flat? that I get bees up my pant legs, which is a bonus.

+1 on the highway pegs. Might make a diff if your legs are really long though.
