When I bought my 09 Lowrider I actually went in to buy a Wideglide. I sat on it for 1 minute and knew I could never ride it. First I have a back problem and the minute I got in the riding position of the WG with forwards I felt the strain in my lower back. I ended up test driving the LR and loved it.

I also find having my feet under me is far more stable and balanced when going through switchbacks. I use the front foot pegs once in a while to strech my legs, but I am on the mids 95% of the time. I did change the seat to a touring seat which brings you up a couple of inches. Makes a big difference in the bend in your legs on the mids.

I love forwards. I use stirups in addition to the pegs. Comfortable as can be. Mid pegs are way to close for my long legs to not cramp up after a short time.

You'll find an angle to rest your feet at, which will not give your boots as much...aerodynamic lift. I noticed it also when I first put on my highway pegs earlier this spring, but now...it's not the slightest concern, they stay put just fine.

100% agree. I needed them for me to fit since I'm6'4". Previous bike had floorboards. My present bike allowed me to stretch out with 3" fwd controls but at 65 on the interstate especially at night did not like that insecure filling. Added the spurs and like night and day difference. Still maintains a somewhat bar bike look without the SUV floorboards? HA

I was getting some "foot-sail" action with the OEM pegs and my forward controls. I switched 'em to boards, and that worked great, but I didn't like the look. I then put the Kuryakyn Iso-Wings up there, and they're perfect.

I usually have mid-mount pegs on the bike as well, for when I want to change position on the highway, but I prefer the relaxed position of my forward controls, 99% of the time.

I'm only 5'8" tall, with a 30" inseam, so short legs aren't an issue with forwards these days. I've read of plenty of taller riders having to extend the forwards even further, in order to be comfortable.

I agree floorboards are the way to go. With pegs your heel is either on the peg, or over the peg. With a good set of boards you have a platform from full forward, back to the mid position or any where inbetween.

Well, based on what I've read here, I'm going down to HD to pick up some highway pegs as soon as I have time. They seem to have two sets of mounts - one says adjustable and it's actually cheaper than the other ones. It looks like both types fit so hopefully they will have them in the store so I can look at them. From the picture, the adjustable ones look like they have only one bolt to the downtube. Can't see how that works unless it pivots and is held in place by friction. Guess I will find out.

One thing about the Superglide though, it's soooo much more comfortable than the 07 Sportster that I traded in that at least there is a good possiblilty that I can get it set up just right, as opposed to the Sportster where there was no chance of that.

+1

My calf muscles cramp with mids.

I added stirrups and my fwds are like putting my feet in warm butter. Ahhhhhhh.....

I've never experienced the foot sail issue. I also love my forwards w/ stirrups. Got on the bike, and it was just naturally where my feet landed. I changed the seat to a Mustang Fastback, and it's even more comfortable. For me, the forwards w/ stirrups, the mini apes, and the seat, make for a very comfortable riding position. I rode a friend's Low Rider w/ mids, and I wasn't comfortable at all. Also, I haven't ridden forwards w/o the stirrups, so I can't comment on the difference in feel. I love mine though.
