Default 2011 Street Bob - what to look for?

Looks like I will finally be getting a Street Bob (note my registration date - its taken a while).

I have negotiated a sale on a Black Denim 2011 Street Bob. It has just over 1,000 miles and was recently serviced. The bike is stock and has no modifications. It is a private sale and we negotiated a sales price of $11,000. Savings close to $5,000 from buying new.

With all that said - is their anything in particular I should look and note on visual inspection before completing my transaction?

I am former rice rider and ATV and offroad motorcycle rider - experience riding on the street with FZR600 and Virago.

thanks

Solid deal, just inspect closely for signs of lay down damage. I'm assuming it still has the MoCo warranty, so no mechanical worries just yet.

Sounds like your getting a hell of a deal on a "new" bike. I have about 4000 miles on my 2011 Street Bob so far. The only signs of wear I have is a little surface rust on the rotors and a few of the bolts from riding in the rain and not drying it. It will feel under powered compared to rice, but you will feel more like part of the machine.

That is a hell of a deal. A 2011 for 11k. Hell for only spending 11k you could always ask if you can have the bike checked out by a dealer if you dont know what to look for. Great find.

Good deal man. It would be worth knowing if the first service has been done. Also, just a check around to make sure it hasn't been tipped over or anything.

thanks everyone.

he originally was asking 12,500 but after 2 months of not selling and several emails I have wore him down.

the bike shows no signs of being layed down.. I will check on when it was serviced. I believe he said it was oil change done.

hope to post pics in the next two weeks - my credit union is making it somewhat difficult to complete transaction

i might even be able to utilize my domain I bought years ago - hdstreetbob.com

First of all, you aren't saving 5k at this price. Nobody would buy that bike new at 16k when you could get a Fat Bob for that type of money (aforementioned 16k) . The price on an 11 Street Bob even with the mark up for the Denim Black paint is probably around 12,500 since the 12s are on the way to the showrooms. Add TTL and you are probably around 14-14.2k, again nowhere near 16k.

Other than that just check what everyone else is saying.

Yeah, but that would be msrp dealer pricing, there are a lot of add on costs when purchasing from a dealer. Generally speaking, it is much cheaper to buy from a private seller.

That's a good price - the warranty should carry over - I would confirm with the motor co just to make sure and complete any warranty transfer paper work.

After tax title taxs dealer prep and delivery it is very close to 5k in savings . That is based off MSRP with no price reduction. Financing new from Harley was a littler over 280 a month - I will be paying just shy of 180 on this one.... besides - this is the story for my wife as well so I am sticking to it my friend =)
