Default RE: wide tire

Well,.I'm fixing to order me a new rear tire as well, and I would like to go with the 180 as well.... Over the past several months I have read several posts stating that the H-D wide tire kit was not needed and then some said I would have to move the wires,..... Can someone chime in and give a first hand definate answer on what needs to be moved if I dont buy the kit? If its not needed I see no need in paying and extra $75+ for something that I just dont have to buy. I've got a lil over 6,000 miles on my OEM Dunlop and its getting pretty thin.

Here is a pic of the wifes bike, I bought the kit last winter cuz i did not know better, LOL i think the 180 would fit with out the kit if the bike was not lowered,
she has told me that when this one wares out she wants a 200 mm want want want
speaking of ware The Warden has put 8000 miles on this one and it is still in pretty good shape, probably good for another 2000 miles
and she rides it pretty hard.

Thanks for the info,....I have also heard that if you have sideplates that you will need the "kit". Is that true or not? I have rigid mounted sideplates with a sissy bar and wasnt sure if it would work with my setup. I dont plan on lowering my bike at all since the height if fine for me, so I shouldnt have any problems in that area.

All you need is a 180 tire, You don't need any other bullshit brackets, Just make sure the turn signal wires are close to the inside of the fender, not hanging out.

Hey guys thanks alot for the info I just ordered me a 180 from Zanottis. It was $167.06 after S&H. I sure hope it lasts longer than my factory OEM tire has lasted. I got just a lil over 6000 miles on this one.
