i have a tach on my bike, so i did notice the rpm increase with highway cruising. It was not much something like if i was going 70 mph at 2800 rpms now i am 70mph at 3000 rpm. those are not exact numbers but they are close. I ride on the highway alot and have done some trips since the 30t and it runs good on trips.

It did affect my speedo but not alot. If the speedo reads 75 i am really doing 72 or 73. I image it will slightly affect the odometer too, but not majorly. I am sure thier are ways to calibrate speedos since they are all electronic but i didn't worry about it too much.

Blackbobber, what else are you running to produce those numbers?

djl, my indy mechanic recommended an S&S easy start 583 cam with a head a job? Any thoughts on the S&S cam line? Thanks.
I only know one guy that is runing those cams and he is happy with them; hlso had heads ported when the cams were installed. I don't know his dyno numbers but IIRC, his torque is well above 100 ft lbs.

Other forums I belong to and have moderated consider what you did, i.e., starting their own thread in the middle of another thread as hi-jacking and the rules are more strict than on this forum. Beggin your pardon, I guess it's not a problem here. I did answer your question though.

The first thing I did was put in a 30 T pulley - then about 5000 miles later I put in a SE 204 cam. As some have said the 30 T puts the RPM's up but with a 6 speed tranny I think it feels just right. It also put the my crusing RPM's in line with my cam - right around 3000 RPM's plus / minus. With this combo its not a speedster but I goes 3000 to 4000 Rpm's pretty quickly which is the equivilent of going 65 to 80 mph with the twist of the wrist.

As a side note there is an aftermarket speedo recalibrator you can plug in or if you have a TTS you can reprogram the gear ratio.

Good Luck which ever way you go.

Jimmie

i run a power pulley as well, my speedo is 3mph off, who cares. the diff with having it is unreal! i love my 30T and very happy i did it. i have a built motor with andrews 37 cams and my bike will hum down a highway at 85mph all day, or blast light to light like a bat out of hell, great cam!
