When I was younger I would not have one, never wanted one, didn't need one. However, as I got older and I bought a motorcycle that came with one, my opinion has changed some what. I still like the wind in the face thing and the occasional bug gives you someting to chew on to break up the monotmy. I now have two.. one a windvest that keeps the wind off my chest for the summer, and larger one for cruising and winter time. If I am just puttering around town I usually donn't use either.

After owning a Heritage and riding with a windshield, I no longer punish myself riding without one. Yes, you still get the wind in face feel, and you can comfortably ride all day. Windshields,
saddlebags, chrome or black, etc. are all personal preferences, but my main reason for owning a motorcycle is love of riding, not just looking good.

I'm not really the windshield type, I don't mind getting hit by bugs and stones. However if I end up riding to Sturgis next year I may end up getting one.

My Low Rider looks better without it, but it is more comfortable to ride with one. I ride with it 90% of the time. No complaints about my Memphis Shades (Slims) Windshiield.

If you're not concerned with how it looks why would you buy a Harley in the first place?
Because I'm a rider, not a poser. [:@]

My point is that there are plenty of bikes out there that do literally everything better than Harleys except look cool and they do it for less money. On top of that many of them even come with windshields. If I didn't give a crap how it looked I'd just buy an FZ1 or a Bandit and be done with it.

Man... do people get touchy around here with their image thing.

I like the windshield for long trips - just plain comfort & warmth in the cold season.

The quick release is easy to take off when I want the cruiser look.

I actually think HD windshields don't take away too much from the bike - they fit the lines pretty well.

Naaaa...I was just kidding; no insult intended. My windscreen is qucik-removeable also. 15 seconds off for cruising around town. 30 secnds back on when needed.
