Default Mustang seat for WG

Well, I plunked down the $$ and got a Mustang "touring" one piece seat for my WG and I was surprised at how nice it looks, even with the bigger passenger seat. Sure, it's not a thin solo seat, but the wife and I ride quite a bit and her a$$ isn't really happy...can't be having that - if that's not happy, I have to listen to the other end...

Anyway, the seat mounted just like the stock one, but the pictures of the seat on a bike on Mustang's site don't show the stock seat strap. The only things holding the seat on are the tang in front and the tab in back, screwed to the rear fender. I locktite'd everything (blue) and it feels solid, but wondering about the strap. Also, the strap bolt in the rear fender stayed in - it looks like it clears the seat. Anyone else installed this seat, or one like it on a WG and can share their experience? Thanks in advance.

Paul

p.s. - the pic in my sig is old...

Got an answer at the dealer today - according to the parts guy, the stock seat strap is an option on the Mustang seat. I was concerned that it was mandatory, as in needed to hold the seat on...

On a side note, the seat felt wierd at first, but the more I rode, the better it felt. I am guessing there is some break-in period, but it sure feels better than the stocker.

Nice ride, CycleDrider. Will work on some pix tomorrow - supposed to be sunny again. Guess that means I'll have to go for a ride to get a newspaper....

Same experience.

Single Bolt thru the fender and the front tab the only thing holding it on...... Easy On an off !
Luv mine for sure, and the Better half has a better attitude as well. ; )

I was a bit worried about it's looks, but after ya look at it for a couple days and ride it ......... It's like it "Belongs" !

Super comfy here..........

Yeah, I was surprised at how good it looks. Mustang did a heck of a job on this seat - great quality. The only time it felt weird was when I'm sitting at a stoplight - it's wider than the stocker so hits my thighs a bit. No big deal - feels great on the road, and the passenger pillow jutting forward as a "backrest" for me is great.

I've been happy with mine. I can ride all day very comfortably.
Got rid of the strap. Post isn't a problem at all.

It's a "GRAB" strap for the passenger, like its really gonna do anything for them,,,,why would you need it to hold the seat on??? Is the seat gonna fall off when your sitting on it??? It is not needed, throw it away.......................

That's what I thought too, but I thought I read something somewhere that said it's needed. Looking at it, you are right - it's just a thin piece of "pleather". I stuck the strap with the old seat and put them in the Mustang box...something else to clutter the garage...

Thanks for the help everyone, appreciate it!
