It's on your transmission side cover, just above where the clutch cable goes into it. It takes a 3/8 allen wrench to take it out. You need to have the bike upright when you check it, and not on the kickstand. It's just the opposite from checking engine the oil. The engine oil you check it with it resting on the kickstand. That's how my 01 is anyway. I would think your 03 would be the same.
Oh also, when checking your trans. oil. You only put the little dipstick back in where it's resting against the threads, then check it. You don't have to screw it back in to check it.

oil was a little over full (not surprised for some reason), so I used a turkey baster and got it to where it's sposed to be. Tranny fluid was low, and that was no surprise either since my clutch cable is still leaking. I'm riding it back up to the dealer in the morning, and gonna tell them I isolated the leak.
