Default Taking off the sissybar and lengthening it....

After looking at all my options, from the HD factory to all the aftermarkets, I'm thinking about taking off the sissybar and having a metal fab shop add another 12-15 inches to it. Surely they can add rolled bar to it, weld, and smooth down to where it looks factory. Thoughts? I know several have had it done.
I need more for a Tombstone bag on the '10 WG when traveling. Looks fairly easy to take off.

If your going to go through that expense, why not just design a new one and have it fabbed from scratch.

Easy job for any skilled fab shop....maybe a local race car fabricator?
I had one made from 3/4" chromoly tubing.

That can be done "fairly" easily if you don't have a chrome sissy bar, if you do and want it to remain chrome, then the cost increases a lot. Your sissy bar has threaded mounting holes that are tough enough to align anyway, so the shop would likely need your bike to mock the extensions up.

If you aren't equipped yourself to do the mod, I'd just order a taller sissy bar. It will be cheaper in the long run and most likely fit.

May just have one from scratch if the cost isn't too prohibitive. I'd like it 15 inches or so high and maybe coming to a point....mine isn't chrome but gloss black.

Yea, i think it'd be far easier to just have one fabbed up custom. check out ginzchoppers
