When you tighten the steering head bolt or steering stem nut, the lower tree clamps on the forks need to be loosened so that the trees are drawn together during the "tightening" process. Don't forget to tighten all fasteners (lower fork tree) after the top is tightened.
Oke, I did that only with te upper tree clamps, I tought that was enough.
So you have to loosen the lower clamps also...............
I will try that tomorrow and let you all know the outcome.

Make sure your gas tank is tight. I had a clunk when I hit bumps, etc., found the front mounting bolt slightly loose, causing a solid clunk. Just a thought.....
neck bearings. its goin on with mine. had the clunk and shake of handle bars at 45 mph. took to harley they adjusted. now it clunks and shakes at 65 mph. its back at the dealer today
I wouldn't loosen the uppers while the lower trees are loose. Keep the uppers tight. It's possible the tubes could slide up thru the trees due to the weight of the bike.

Thanks for your concerne, but I jacked up the cycle, so the front end is free from the ground.
