Default Rear Wheel Bearings-Gettin Old!

Looks like I'm heading to the shop for rear wheel bearings for the third time in 45,000 miles. Last time trashed the hub and had to pay for a whole new wheel. Anyone else having repeated problems on their Dynas?

Get yourself a good wheel bearing remover and installer tool and replace the rears at every tire change and the fronts at every other tire change.
You can get 8 H-D quality bearings for 17.77 + shipping or 2.49 ea. separately.

You can get what I use, Nachi high quality Japanese bearing for 7.19 ea.

Which to me adds a little piece of mind between tire changes.
There are many threads on this, but IMO the '08 up narrow bearings just can't take the load over time and especially if you up the power.
If the power is increased or even if you go to the 30T pulley, I think the best solution would be to have the rear hub, spacers and caliper bracket machined to fit the Double row 1" x 52 x 21mm bearing that are used on the '06-'07 Wheels and use the 1" axle.

Do not know what you are doing. Have 40K on rear and 100K+ on front and mine are fine. Have a fatboy wheel sitting in garage that came with my star front that has 100K and it fills fine up close and personally. The roads are rough around here too. Not sure why the would be a difference except that quality of the material. I would do some research and get me a quality name brand set of bearings if that's possible. Something like this you would not think Harley would be trying to save 5 cents on.

Why it helps to simply identify your bike in your sig or in the garage. I could tell by the hollow axles in the pic, but I did not want to assume.

Your bike is a whole different animal and runs the wide double row bearing.

Interesting. Just eyeballing it I believe you are correct. made by Canada bearing DH559339 . It is around 3/4 wide and judging the 3/4 bore and around 2 OD my guess is it is double row.

A sealed ball bearing with an internal of 3/4" , External 52mm and 21mm width. Manufactured by the automotive specialists KML, this bearing is commonly used in Harley Davidson applications and will replace HD9267. Also known as: F-390598, 390598, H-D9267, DH559339, 19x52x21, 19.05x52x21, 3/4x52x21, 3/4"x52x21, 1013-2RS
